“Get Up And Pray. For Friday.”

This morning, I lay on my pillow and could hear Him.  Speaking not so softly.  “Get up. And Pray.”

You see I am a bit in denial.

This coming weekend I am speaking to a retreat center full of beautiful faces.  The University of Tennessee’s CRUwomen’s retreat.  When I close my eyes I see them.  Eager.  Hungry. Ready for Jesus to blow the roof off of their hearts.

I have been asked to come and lead their time on Friday.  To share my story.  My Chasing Skinny story.

It’s funny, I have written about it several times, but never, not once, have I shared to a live audience.  And guess what?  The Lord has given me four Chasing Skinnyspeaking engagements this year…THREE OF WHICH ARE IN FEBRUARY.

Gasp.  Feeling a bit queasy at the thought.

The first one is Friday.

And I am a bit in denial.

In denial that the Lord has put the call on me.  In denial that anyone really wants to hear it.

And really really in denial that it is THIS FRIDAY.

So…this morning as I lay on my pillow, my eyes wide open at 5:14 am,  I heard Him …”Get up and pray. For Friday.”

So I am.  Praying for those beautiful faces. Praying for their open hearts. Praying that they come with all of their idols, chains, baggage, insecurities and heart aches, so we can lay them ALL at the feet of Jesus.

The One who came to save us.

So…will you pray with me?  Pray for those precious women. Pray this week is a sweet time of prep and prayer around here.  Pray the Lord speaks through me.  Pray any and all chains will be broken. Pray that every bit of their security and identity and beauty is found in Christ.

Pray for souls to be saved. Pray for restoration.

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

And forgive me for the crickets that will be chirping this week on the blog.  I know they will be.

Love, love, love to all of  you.

Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did.  Could this be the Messiah?”  They came out of the town and made their way toward him. Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.” So when the Samaritans came to him, they invited him to stay with them, and he stayed two days.  And because of his words many more became believers.  They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have learned for ourselves and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”

Don’t Rush Out

<p>Years ago, I was speaking at a mountain retreat in a cabin full of new moms. I had brought my mentor Debbie with me for prayer (and a bit of moral support) as I was very new to leading women&#8217;
