Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Col. 3:23-24
I wish I understood this as a child. Oh, how I just wanted to be recognized. If only my teachers would see me, my cheer coach would see me, my peers would see me, my parents would see me. Somebody.
Maybe this is just an Enneagram 3 problem, but I don’t think so.
I believe this to be a human problem. But really, is it a problem? We are created with a desire to be recognized. And that isn’t wrong – at all. It just gets misguided.
Our God, The Great El Roi, the God Who Sees, has had His eye on you from day zero. Psalm 139:15 concurs… “You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.” Amazing thought, right?
He just loves watching us. Encouraging us. Cheering us on.
Today as I pray for my boys, I pray they work so hard this year – for an audience of One.
Not for A’s but Heartily for Him.
Not for Honor Roll but for Honoring God.
Declare this over your child or children today….. Praying that at an early early age they understand how delighted the Lord is in their hard work. El Roi….He sees them. He really does.
