Well, what do you know?

You know when something hard happens… and then you wake up the NEXT MORNING… the first morning of a new reality… and it takes a millisecond before it hits. And then – it hits.
Ugh. You know that feeling. That was me, last Tuesday.
Disoriented, scared, sad, mad, confused, unsure, restless – just a few words to describe how I felt.
So like I do, I laced up my Hoka’s (post 2 cups of coffee) and started out for a walk. About a mile in a friend called to check on me. I shared my feelings of loss, the uncertainty of finances, not knowing what options I have for career, unsure of God’s direction etc…
Then she asked a question that shifted the atmosphere of my soul from overwhelmed to overwhelming peace.
She asked, “Well, what do you know?”
I was shocked at how quickly responses came. Truths sitting on the edge of my heart – just waiting to be called upon.
“I know that God is with me.” Matt. 28:20
“I know He does not leave me or forsake me.” Deuteronomy 31:8
“I know that He goes before me to prosper my way.” Genesis 24:40
“I know that God provides seed for the farmer.” 2 Corinthians 1:9
“I know that every good gift is from God above.” James 1:7
“I know that HE IS Jehovah Jireh, my provider.” Genesis 22:14
“I know that He works all things for the good of those who love Him.” Romans 8:28
“I know that Jesus sits at the right hand of the Father interceding for me.” Romans 8:24
“I know that goodness and mercy follow me ALL the days of my life.” Psalm 23:6
“I know I am MORE than an overcomer in Christ Jesus.” Romans 8:37
“I know what the enemy meant for evil, the Lord means for Good.” Genesis 50:20
“I know my God keeps His promises.” 2 Corinthians 1:20
“I know I have a hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
So. Much. I. Do. Know.
As I spoke out these truths, the ocean tide of my heart began to turn. Peace like a river started to flow. Hope began to rise.
Friends… what we SAY has incredible power. Both ways. Just look…
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21
My reality is very difficult right now, yes. However, I do not look to what is SEEN, but what is UNSEEN.
So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever. 2 Corinthians 4:18
In hardship, friends, let us be Kingdom-minded. Let God’s Word dictate our thinking. May the Truth of scripture protect our hearts. We are diligent soldiers!!! We stand against the lies of fear, disaster and catastrophe and take every falsehood captive unto the obedient of Christ.
We don’t discount our emotions. We must grieve and experience pain associated with hardship. But when we feel we “don’t know” what the future holds, let us hold fast to the Father. His promises. And the certainty of Scripture.
I pray you will take some time and journal what you DO know. Take the passages above, look them up, write them down. And most importantly – speak them out. Let your soul hear.
And you will inevitably experience the peace of God which transcends ALL understanding.
I love you all…. Becky xoxo
